Ginger Beer Recipe - Scratch Brew No Kit

Wow, would definitely go down that road. I wouldn't use vodka though, has to be some sort of home brewing. What would be the reason in pre-fermenting though? Wouldn't you then be selling an alcoholic beverage? Or is it for preserving?

Ginger Beer Recipe - Scratch Brew No Kit

Also I am pretty sure the Morgans kit used in Kingsley's recipe has gluten in it, wish it were that simple! Everything tastes great with gluten!

Ginger Beer Recipe - Scratch Brew No Kit

It was a while ago now but I know I used a Champagne yeast and a number of sugars, some fermentable some not. But the result was a super dry, unsweet, super yeasty taste with little ginger, undrinkable. I think I used 1kg of fresh ginger, which is not cheap! Sorry for the lack of detail...

Ginger Beer Recipe - Scratch Brew No Kit

Would love to read a blog on the subject. I would like to brew a gluten free option for the celiacs in my family, tried once, was a hopeless failure.

    Seeking Advice on Homemade Mayonnaise

Never tried Xanthan gum but what a great idea, some quick research shows they do use it in salad dressings. I use the stick blender approach, works very well. Place the egg and all the oil in a narrow container that the stick blender just fits in. Start the blender with it fully submerged...

Any Brew Clubs, or even Informal Brewer's Gatherings, in the Illawarra/Wollongong/South Coast Region of NSW?

I am in Mt Keira, my neighbour and I are both brewers, would be interested but not on facebook, and never will be!

    Bad batches or my mistake?

Water off the roof could easily contain pathogens, you would need a filter that you probably can't get as a homebrewer to filter out all the nasties. I think the issue here is that livo is brewing from cans. When I used to do this years ago I think all I did was use hot water to rinse out the...

    High FG

I would bottle it, clearly it has stopped. Could simply be more unfermentable sugars, maybe a quality control issue? Another thing you could try is raising the temp to 25 or 28 to see if that encourages the yeast to kick in again.

    Immersion Chiller from Kegland

Would like to add to this discussion with this question, I have a Guten 40, pretty much like a grainfather I think. Anyway it has a circulation pump that I could use with the counter flow cooler. My question is though, if you pump your wort through the chiller, given the suction side of the...

    Sanitizer use by date?

I know Grok is joking but that could be a thing i.e. Covid, but assuming you have also tried bought beers that taste fine then that rules that out. For the small cost of a new bottle of sanitizer you should do that anyway. I have also wondered about the shelf life of mixed sanitizer, end up...

Corrosion/Rust on regulator and gas tank - kegland

keeping it in the fridge is a good idea because the fridge is essentially an air conditioner that keeps moisture out and dries the air. The problem arises when you take the bottle out of the fridge into a humid warm (warmer than the fridge) environment, or you turn the fridge off, keep the door...
