    I've done it heaps of times with Coopers and it has always been good. If you were to use trub from the fermenter, then you might get some shitty bitter flavours.

    Mine has always smelled slightly seaweedy/fishy. That flavour has never transfered into the beer, so I'm not throwing it out.

    Don't stress, technobabble. I cube at about 90 degrees, lay on their side for 5 minutes to sanitise the lid and then straight into the swimming pool to get down to pitching temp asap. If your sanitation regime is good, you'll have no worries.
