A reminder to everyone to enter the comp and... calling all those that may be interested in judging or stewarding. Birbeck's Brewing home brew competition

beer label is label on beer ;) I'll open it up next time if its successful this time. We're only just breaking into the other markets at the moment so while it might be fun for non-South Australians its harder to share with your mates if they can't pop down to the local supportive craft pub and...

    Birbeck's Brewing home brew competition

I'll clarify Release rights to the recipe for that brew only. Brewer can take it from there if they want and we won't use that recipe again...If you're worried about rights to your recipe I'll organise to draft up an agreement making a clear statement as to the ownership of the relevant IP...

    Birbeck's Brewing home brew competition

I've had the pleasure of starting up my own beer label after years of home brewing and its gone ok so far. Now I'm running a competition for South Australian Brewers. The thrust of the competition is to brew a beer using Oat malt. Flaked oats, rolled oats and golden naked oats are not subs for...

    Dogfish recipe?

my two cents.. get rid of the crystal and the wheat. unessary and not in any clone recipes I've seen. pale and Amber is a consistent theme across the 60, 90 and 120 min IPA's. Push the OG to 1064, drop the amber to 200ish. there is more amber in the bigger beers but the little one, 400g amber...

Low Alc, Strong Flavour Recipe Needed

FG finishing abov 1010 is key IMHO as Smurto has said. there are few ways to achieve that. Use of the right spec malts to get the mouthfeel right and the right malt, Smurto's recipe using Munich as the base is a good one too. The big failing of smaller beers is they taste 'thin'. I've used...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Agreed...cider and a cloudy belg lager isn't of much interest. That has pretty much decided that when I'm next in Fremantle a trip to LC won't be necessary and I can hit the other locals places...limited opportunities the brown was great, especially on tap, and I'll brew another at home soon...

    Keezer Power Usage?

I can say I was running a small fridge with good seals etc and then added a 40 year old chest freezer and the power bill barely shifted, then swapped the fridge and the old 160 litre chesty for a 468 litre chesty (and added a small bar fridge style freezer as well) and the bill went down. don't...

Has This Happened To Anyone Else

yep...managed to stop it happening by making sure I tipped the cube on its side so the hot wort was in contact with the lids while it chilled. when it has happened before I emptied the cube and reboiled it, re cubed etc
