    Brewer's Friend Website ?

I have just made a very healthy starter of WLP540 but according to Brewer's Friend Pitch Rate Calculator that should not have been possible since the MFG date was 5 Jul '16 and the BB date 31 Dec 16. According to Brewer's Friend "Yeast is 195 days old, the viability is estimated at 0%." This is...

    Wort oxygenation set up

I've got myself an O2 bottle and am about to order a valve but I needed some advice about the stone. I have a 2 micron stone. Is this suitable for O2 injection or should I buy a 0.5 micron one. I read above that people use either one so not sure what to do. Please help.

    The Yeast Bay strains

What temperature have you got the Saison Brett brew sitting at BilBrewing?

    The Yeast Bay strains

I'm using the Wallonian Farmhouse strain for the first time and I'm flying pretty much blind. On top of that I'm also using new equipment so this is quite a learning experience, if something drinkable comes of it that will be a bonus  I made a starter assuming a the vial contained 100...

    Hobart Water

I was wondering if I could somehow have a copy of the Launceston report? Failing that perhaps you could let me have the email address you used? Don't really know where to start.

    How To - Gelatine

According to BeerSmith the estimated FG was 1.012 and mine is 1.011 which is what it has been on the two previous occasions when I have done this recipe more or less the same way.

    How To - Gelatine

I don't have much brewing experience and have used gelatin for the first time in a dubbel. I thought the beer had fermented out, had no bubbles in the airlock so chilled to 9 deg C and added gelatin. I started to get bubbles in the airlock again and that was 8 days ago - the beer is still in the...

    Dry Wheat Malt Extract

Carniebrew, I hadn't reported back because I was really unhappy with my second attempt at a Weizzen attributable largely I think to the excessively high fermentation temperature. At the moment I've been playing around with a Dubbel and strict temperature control - the initial results are very...

    Lagering a Dubbel

Just a quick progress report. Based on advice here, I stored 3 dozen @ 10°C and left 2 doz at room temp as a "control". The son and I decided to test the early results today at day 18. Turns out that there is little or no difference in the level of carbonation ... and ... the dubbel stored at...

Duvel Partial attempt, feed back please

I've plugged your figures (but not all ingredients) into BeerSmith and I'm a noob so offer the following for what it's worth. The number of viable cells you start off with in a Wyeast pack is determined by the date on which it was manufactured amongst other things. If you were to brew today...

    Lagering a Dubbel

Cheers for that. I wasn't able to find much to help with lagering ales but what you say makes sense. The use of the term in this context by Zainasheff did seem a bit odd which was why I baulked at using it myself - even though I'm a noobie. It's all sitting at 10°C now - let you all know how it...

    Decent temperature sensor?

Cheers for that. Thought I'd combine it with the probe Edak recommended.
