Two-for-one Tickets to Ballarat Beer Festival 2017

G'Day All, I received tickets to the Ballarat Beer Festival from the brother-in-law for Christmas. Problem is that the festival takes place on SWMBO's birthday! I'm hoping to at least get something (beer) out of my xmas gift, and the price of one ticket aligns nicely with a Fresh Wort Kit. So...

Chuck Hahn tells it like it is.

It's always refreshing to hear someone tell it like it is regarding ingredients used in the mega breweries: "When I discovered that the late additions to the brew kettle of the German Hersbrucker hops were not being made properly and were of 2008 crop a couple months ago, I quickly made...

    Beetroot in a Saison?

Are you sure they were not referring to sugar beet? I know that Silly Saison uses beet sugar as it is grown local to the brewery. I've been meaning to source some beet sugar syrup for a while.

VIC 2013 July Case Swap - tasting thread

    20. Micbrew - Stone and Wood Pacific ale I was a little concerned about this one as I could see some yeast around the neck/cap. I needn't have worried. Crystal bright copper brew. Clean fruity aroma and flavour, well balanced against the malt. Well made beer and very enjoyable. Cheers!

Did your town make the top ten?

Being a former NSW mid-north coast kid I regularily refer to KFC as Kempsey Fat Children. Good to see the research backs me up.

    11. Yob - English something bastardised Following on from the Pirates IPA this one was much more earthy, very cloudy with an almost green tinge. I probably did not give it the care it deserved. That said I found it very enjoyable. Cheers Yob.

    12. Midnight Brew - American Brown Ale (Wy Greenbelt) - Drinking fine. Bottled 12.7.13 Brilliant clarity through the dark brown brew. Small dense head that fades quickly. Undeniable American aroma and flavour, with prominent bitterness. Malt flavours are enjoyable, the only thing that hit me...

VIC 2013 July Case Swap - tasting thread

This particulate comment has grabbed my attention. I dry hopped this brew, and following this point I think I should be paying more attention to my process.
