    Converting A Keg

Hi, I've managed to procure a 50 litre keg that I want to use to mash. However before I introduce my 4" grinder to it I'd like to get some advice as to the best cut'n'shut job to do to the keg. Should I put a tap in the bottom? I'm planning to heat via a two or three ring burner as found on...

    Hey Jaz

Snow, I frequent the Home Beverage Shop in Wynumm, who's been absolutely great and really helpful on all my problems and questions. It was quite a relief to find Lincoln after visiting some of the other HBO's around. Anyway he reckons that the one thing he can't do good deals on is the grains...

    Hey Jaz

I'm interested in the 25kg bags of grain for $35 as my local brew shop won't give me much of a discount for uncracked grain. I'm up in Brisbane and would appreciate any ideas where I could get the grain from locally or freighted up without the need to buy shares in the truck. Ta Greg

    Beer Recipe Books

Just wondering whether any of you people out there in the ether have used any beer reference books. I have recently bought another copy of Dave Line's "Brewing Beers like those you buy" having lent mine to someone for the last 6 or 7 years. Anyway I seem to remeber this book as being...

So What Have You Go Brewin?

I've got a Brakspear Special sitting in the fermenter, keeping company with a Pilsner Urquell which is off for cold conditioning tomorrow. To be replaced with a first attempt at Peroni. I hope this turns out as good as the real thing Greg :D

    Gas Coming Off Conditioning Beer

This is just a thought and I would be interested to now whether I am correct in thinking this, but the beer in the fridge is down to 2 deg C which would stop the yeast from doing it's stuff! however the beer in the fridge is at 12 deg C and may still be fermenting. As I said just a thought

    Stuck Fermentation

Sorry Kook, I expected to get an FG of about 1006 using the calculator and my Sg was 1048.

    Stuck Fermentation

Thanks for the help and advice. I have also heard several suggestions about Wyeast, however at this stage of my brewing with liquid yeast I am more inclined to belive that the problem lies with my technique. I will stop racking at half SG to see whether this makes a difference. The reason I...

    Stuck Fermentation

I've recently moved on to partial and full mashes. In conjunction with this I have also used liquid yeasts an awful lot more. Everything seemed to be going quite well until recently. I made a London Pride Clone with a Wyeast and the FG stuck around the 20's, luckily I had another fermenter on...

How Much Beer To You Drink

Its 2-3 stubbies during the week for me except when I'm on call and then its just the one. The weekend doesn't count and depends on whats going on, if there's Rugby as in this weekend it will be quite a few. Go the Poms :P

    Grain Mill

Ken, $180 sounds better than $250. Please count me in on the order, just give me a couple of weeks. Greg

    Grain Mill

Ken, I emailed Gerard a couple of weeks ago regarding the Barley Crusher, I'm interested to see how the price compares with getting it direct. What do you think? Greg No problem in getting a mill, but we are at least 6 weeks away from taking delivery at this stage. We have negotiated the...
