    Newbie from Hobart.

Hey Eric, I hope it doesn't turn out this way for you but when I tried to make a cider from freshly pressed apples, it turned in to Apple Cider Vinegar due to (best guess) the yeasts and bacteria naturally living on the skins. I pitched a fair amount of yeast but these other bugs either...

    Co2 Leaking - Had Enough

Just chiming in to say that I was surprised to find a leak from the top of my ball lock post disconnect. It was resolved by tightening the thing down. Have since switched to stainless and barbed but might be worth checking.

Just getting back into brewing looking at building a keezer

The keg proxy on the far right might mean you need a pretty tall collar, from my experience.

    Precipitous learning curve...

I'll get to pickup angle as you questioned but background first... No doubt there are brewers that do the full gamut, from fermenting the lot, to filtering to the nth micron. The trub still exists in BIAB for the most part due to proteins from the grain, and hop mass if you don't control it...

Storing bulk grain in humidid climate

I was living in Darwin doing all grain for a while, up till recently. I had Barret Burson grain, and just kept it in that plastic lined bag until required. I did keep it in a internal, non windowed room that was rarely accessed. The grain didn't go off, slack, rot or anything. Any spec malts I...

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

I think you're on the right track peteru, but in the case of not being able to trust the spunding valve that seems to be a way to get some of the benefits. Ideally the valve would work as required... but 40psi seems to suggest it wasn't for Danscraftbeer.

    Extract brewing help

HI AM, From memory doing a partial boil with the steeped sweet liquid (from the caramalt) and maybe a portion of the liquid extract will put you in the right gravity (sugar dissolved in wort) range for hop utilisation. This range is about 1.040 IIRC. I've attached a recipe from the Kit and...

    Not Using Brew Enhancer

I started off using an aquarium heater while I was back in Tas, Worked ok for the first while but infections crept in and I shunned brewing for a while. Turned out the top of the heater has a void that was harbouring all sorts of crap, it made contact when the krausen reached it, and transferred...

    Immersion chiller water pump

First 30L or so gets run to buckets in the current setup, used for cleaning later on. Rest gets returned as its sitting at a pretty reasonable temp after 30L. I've been using the IC to get to about 30degC, takes about 35mins for ~40L, and am happy to minimise the potential contamination time...
