    Vienna Lager - advice/help required

Finally got round to attempting this again. Mostly unchanged recipe. Looks like the fermentation is slowing down way before what I hoped was FG - is this normal for this yeast? (M76 Mangrove Jacks Bavarian Lager) Do I just need more patience? Brewfather

    Robobrew Gen 3

    Mashing as we speak :)

    Robobrew Gen 3

In their defence, they offered to install the part themselves, but I needed it fast and said I could do it if it was easy. It just lacked instructions, which I received today. And yes, this could have been done under warranty, but due to the convoluted way I came about this it would have been a...

    Robobrew Gen 3

Can’t. There’s a group of 4 wires, then a group of 5 on the old board. On the new board it is reversed - 5,4. The plugs for the group of 5 are larger and don’t fit in the terminals of the group of 4. So, I tried mirroring it, didn’t work. Straight swapping 5 to 5 and 4 to 4. Didn’t work. Atm I...

    Robobrew Gen 3

I don’t want this to be a bad review of the Robo, because I really do like the thing. I understand that at this price point maybe some Chinese circuit boards will fault, and I can accept that. I don’t think at this price you’ve bought the right to complain, so hopefully the customer service is...

    Robobrew Gen 3

Nah - have put half a dozen or so brew through it. Warranty is out of the equation too. Long story.

    Robobrew Gen 3

Good memory. Same issue - new parts intended to solve it. Replacing the board in theory is easy as it’s all screws, no solder. However the wiring configuration on the new board is different, and no clue has been provided as to what goes where. See pic below (new board left, old board right)

    Robobrew Gen 3

Hi all Last weekend I attempted a new, but my Robobrew Gen 3 kept throwing an E2 error code. So during the week I ordered and received a new circuit board with the instruction to just ‘swap the wires over one at a time’. Only problem is the wiring is a different configuration (instead of a...

Sydney (Potts Hill) Water - Additives for a hoppy beer

Great feedback guys. I’ll tone it back and add some calcium chloride too. (Edit: I won’t be adding CaCl because LHBS is out.) Thanks!

Sydney (Potts Hill) Water - Additives for a hoppy beer

Hi all. Brewing what will hopefully be a hoppy IIPA tomorrow, and I’m after some advice on what people add to the water. Usually I put 3tsp of gypsum in the mash for a batch that finishes up at about 23L, but I’m wondering if that is sufficient, or if there’s anything else I should be adding...

    Vienna Lager - advice/help required

Didn’t put it on oxygen or anything but had a vigorous shake etc to get some air into it. Zinc might be worth a go - Sydney water is pretty low on minerals etc. I think it didn’t like the low temp. Or I dropped it too fast. It reportedly tastes ok as is (in carbed still) so next time might...

    Vienna Lager - advice/help required

Tbf, it doesn’t taste bad. Cold and carbed it’d be fairly drinkable - lots of flavour. Bit more like an ale than a lager tho at this point.

    Vienna Lager - advice/help required

After a few days at 11° it still is stuck on 1.022. Going to 13.5° now and if there’s no movement in a day or so I’m giving up. Edit: Ok, so it maybe has shifted from 9 to 8.5brix according to the refracto. Patience.
