    Yeast might be dead?

Give it some time, Diddlez. The bubbleometer is not an accurate gauge. Yeast age, prior yeast handling, pitch rates, oxygen levels, temps and a whole bunch of things can effect the start of initial ferment. Can you hear CO2 bubbling when you stick your ear to the FV? Either way, you are...

    Flavoured beer!!

No worries, at all. Let us know how you go! In addition to Thumbsuckers' book recommendation, see if you can find 'Radical Brewing' by Randy Mosher. It has a smallish fruit section, but it covers all types of beers from around the world, both traditional and 'out there'. The recipes are both...

First Brew: Coopers Amber Ale K+K

Welcome, Stuart. Generally speaking, two weeks in primary is a great ballpark goal to have. If temps are good, that's plenty for the yeast to consume the fermentable sugars and begin to clean up after themselves. Time is always beneficial with brewing. Racking (off the yeast cake) to...

    Flavoured beer!!

Hey, Chods. Apologies for taking so long to respond, I didn't receive a notice of your reply. For some reason, I've been receiving notices for 10 year old threads! Anywho, my old K+K gose recipe was for a double batch of 46L in a 60L fermenter. Just halve for a single batch. 2 x Morgans...

    Flavoured beer!!

With respect to the commenters before me, I disagree. Adding fruit 'flavour' is intuitive and easy. Just add fruit. NEVER use the pith from citrus, though. It will over bitter a bitter! One way to use fruit is to give your fermenting brew at least a week to build up enough yeastie alcohol...

I spied this at the top of the forum page and reverse snorted an Irish Red Ale all over my monitor in laughter. You sir, are a legend.

    Biofine

Inspired by the fearless and peerless brewers before me, I jumped on the Biofine Clear bandwagon to see what the fuss was all about. I'm not too hung up on the aesthetics of a clear beer, and I have always been happy with how clear I can get it with the only additives of time and temperature...

    Vaping

Spog and Wereprawn, If you guys want to find a shop that has some gear and can show you how the coils work, etc, I'd be happy to send you some juice. That way you can try it out and see if it works for you before getting into importing nicotine, expensive box mods, etc. Some people just don't...

    Vaping

I'm not entirely sure, MJ. I heard it on a news break on the radio walking past. I think it brings it in line with cigarette smoking in public (beaches, national parks, etc.). I'm not sure what the actual cigarette smoking laws are, though. It hasn't been an issue for me for years.

    Vaping

I find that to be astounding. Cheers, Bribie. No doubt that's where a fair few of the 4000 extra chemicals come from! How horrific that is allowed to happen in a complete Nanny state like Australia, where companies can't sell coffee that's too hot, nor proper cords on a new set of blinds! When...
