Guy at work has just started brewing, went straight to AG, 3V 50L, digital refractometers, digital PH scales. Hope he succeeds, but if not, looking forward to buying his gear on the cheap!

Small question: How come hops are kept in the fridge at the HBS but people also sell them online and post them (unrefrigerated)?

Oh, so they're good for a few days then? That's longer than I thought.

The longer you keep them in the fridge (or freezer) the better, but a lot of people are willing to sacrifice a few days exposure for a discounted rate in hops. I doubt a few days at "reasonable" temps would do too much harm.

^and by that, fresh is best, but if they're going to sit around, might as well be in a fridge or freezer.
