Holgate Brewery, Flat Beer, poor Barstaff, slap Time

Sorry for the sarcasm, it's an inherited trait. Let me reiterate - I apologise that he had a bad experience and hope he comes back so we can improve on it. I'll shout him a pint to make up for the flat one he got. And, yeah, it got by back up because we threw all we had into that Blonde and...

Holgate Brewery, Flat Beer, poor Barstaff, slap Time

Hi, Ian here. I'm one of the brewers at Holgate. Sorry you had a bad experience, but glad it was only 1 out of 10. We'll work on that average. I was pouring 5000 or so beers at Ballarat at the time or would have been happy to field your complaint and avoid the necessity of an online rant. The...

I work at Holgates and we haven't brewed this since about 2009 At the time we did brew it with a lager yeast and fermented at lager temps.

    Fed Square Micro Brew Showcase

From what I gathered this was the first event where each brewery had to provide their own license and not everyone got one in time basically due to LLV dragging its heels. Some change in the licensing rules that means the Fed Square event isn't big enough (!) to warrant a blanket license...

    Fed Square Micro Brew Showcase

You'd think 22 Victorian microbreweries would be enough to keep everyone entertained! The AIBA Expo is there every year now to showcase beers from interstate, across the Tasman, and internationally. I didn't get around to everyone, but top beers for me this time were the Arctic Fox APA...

Temple Brewing To Get A Brewry In Brunswick East

I like that the writer took to time to point this out - " unlike contract brewers who devise a brand and recipes then entrust the making of the beer to someone else, Ron has travelled around Victoria with his equipment and ingredients and the meticulous attention to detail that made him one...

Fullers Threatens To Sue Swedish Microbrewery Over Use Of "esb&qu

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but a look at the Australian trademark registry indicates that Fullers has registered ESB here in Australia. Hmm... Word: FULLER'S ESB EXPORT EXTRA SPECIAL BITTERImage: GRIFFIN ON SCROLL ON CIRCLE,TRIPLE, DIVIDED BY RECTANGLE; RECTANGLE,CONVEX-SIDES ON CIRCLE...

Fullers Threatens To Sue Swedish Microbrewery Over Use Of "esb&qu

This article via BeerSweden caught my eye. Fullers is threatening to sue over use of the term "ESB" which it claims to have invented in 1971 and has trademarked in the UK and Europe. Reminiscent of DB Brewery's threats over "radler" and "summer ale". Wonder if their lawyers will come gunning...

Getting Sick Of Tipping Beer Out

Why dump them? Open a bunch, decant into a jug and enjoy. Sure, you'll lose 80% in foam, but may as well get 20% worth of enjoyment out of them! P.S. Ditto what everyone else said about cleaning, sanitizing, and bulk priming.

    Onsite Brewing - An Alternative?

Yeah - The local planning is often what catches people. What are you doing with your brewery waste? You can't just flush all those fermentables, hop debris, trub, spent yeast, etc down the drain. Others have gotten stuck on air pollution issues - for some reason some neighbors might not like...

What Is Best Way To Reduce Sediment

A few things you can try to clear up your beer before investing in filters: - Kettle finings: Irish moss or equivalent. Helps precipitate out the "hot break" - proteins and hop debris in your kettle - at the end of the boil. Now that you're moving to grain brewing you'll end up with more...
