    Yes, I used Riwaka late in the boil and 2124 yeast. Turned into a beautiful Pilsner with a fruity twist. One of my all time favourite brews. I'll post up the recipe when I get home tonight.

    S-189 lager yeasts at Ale temps

    I really don't like S-189, I've used it so many times at 10 deg, 12 deg and 18 deg and it just comes through as bland and boring, no matter what style. I much prefer W34/70 or WY2124 for lagers.

    Ferment Fridge Build - To Heat or Not to Heat in Brisbane?

    I'm in Brisbane and I don't use a heater in winter. It only gets cold enough to need one for about a month if you only brew ales. I brew Lagers in winter and ales in summer. Love a good Bock or Schwartzbier in the colder months.

    How can a Smack pack not even be good for only 3.5L of wort!

    You're trying to ferment out 45 L of lager with one smack pack at 60% viability? As suggested above, you'll need at least two starter steps to get to the required pitch rate. Pitch the smack pack into a 2.0 l starter and step up to a 5.0 l one. That should give you the 750 billion you need.

    Just head to Bacchus Brewing at Capalaba; well worth the 30 min drive. Other than that, Dan Murphy's is your best bet. All the good bars and bottle shops are a lot closer to the CBD.
