    Noisy check valve

Update: Thanks for all the responses. I did both venting to the atmosphere and connecting to a disconnect. I was pretty much just playing around with the reg and the gas bottle, push fittings etc as I built the 2 keg setup with pluto guns for the fridge to see how everything worked. For...

    Noisy check valve

Haha that makes sense! I guess then my last question is, how come no one else seems to have asked this question? Are everyone's check valves noisy when they first set up their kegs? Anyway, looking forward to actually filling these kegs. Cold crashing the latest brew (sessionable blonde ale...

    Noisy check valve

For the benefit of anyone who does what I did, that noise is completely normal. I took it back, and the lovely chap at the LHBS who sold it to me said, 'nah it needs back-pressure to work properly. That noise will be normal. If I change the check valve out, it'll do exactly the same thing.' He...

    Noisy check valve

So I tried cranking the gas up to 40 psi but no luck. Check valve still really noisy and loud. Im happy it's doing its, job but that's definitely too noisy for me to be OK with. My wife has questions about this strange noise I was making downstairs. I might have to take it back I'm guessing

    Noisy check valve

Hi there, I've finally become sick enough of bottling to make the move to kegs. Old mate at the LHBS has set me up with a couple of 19L kegs, a regulator, line, pluto guns, disconnects etc. I'm just kinda playing around with the setup to get to know the gas side and how the regulator works...

Things I wish I'd known before brew #1 - or advice from myself if I had a time machine

Good post, thanks. I've only got around 10 brews under the belt. A kit and kilo, a pimped up kits, some extracts and a couple AG BIAB (11L batches in my 19L BIG W pot). I think I get what you are saying with trying to kinda buy right the first thing but what do you mean by converting your...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Thanks so much for that. Just on the theory, I honestly think it's better to know where the numbers come from because then when you need to ad-lib you can. And so when you run into confusion like this you can sort it out from first principles. This is all taking me back to my engineering days...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Hi all, First time poster but I've got 5 or 6 brews under my belt. I seem to following along the traditional path (straight up kit and kilo, then adding a short hop boil, then steeping grains, then dry extract/grains/hops without the kit....) So I've found myself using this masterpiece of a...
