    Non kit yeast.

Thanks for the info. The yeast with the kit tins must be well under pitched then im guessing. Im sure they were 5 or 7g. I will add the entire pack of 15g as stated. Thanks again for the help.

    Non kit yeast.

Hi all. I am brewing with extract kits and have had some good and poor results. I have heard it mentioned that the kit yeast can be hit or miss depending on age and storage conditions of the tins etc. Can anyone tell me what amount of yeast from a packet (non kit pack but bought from a homebrew...

    Stalled ginger beer?

I wonder if the cooler temps are making the yeast in your brew a little sleepy? I put on a MJ ginger kit on Saturday morning (28/5) with same amount of sugars I usually do and I am seeing less action thru the airlock but the hydrometer readings are showing good fermentation for me. But I got...

Let us know the result. I was wondering about adding a small amount of hops to try to cancel the sweetness a bit. Has anyone added hops to a ginger beer?

My first brew, a Morgans Blue Mountain kit finished at 1015 SG ( 3 readings taking over a full 48hr period). It was brewed at 28 dec. I bottled it the day after the final reading. It tasted fine if ever so slightly fruity but I liked the taste. I think maybe our higher brewing temps may play...

    How many use bottles?

"Having it kegged would be too tempting for me to pour a quick one... " lol. I just started brewing this year. Am loving it. Im just doing basic kits and bottle them but my first batch I drunk them all within 2 weeks of bottling lol. I know I need to let them sit longer. But its just too tempting.

Welcome Banjo89. Im new to brewing my own but am about to put down my 3rd brew later today. My first was the blue mountains lager kit. Turned out nice but a tad fruity maybe due to the high ferment temp. Im in Caboolture and couldnt get it below 26deg with a 28 deg temp most the time. But I did...

    Hello to all.

Quick update. My Lager has been in the bottles now for just over a week. Turned out better than I had thought and I have just bottled my ginger beer 2 days ago, tastes good also, even better when I mix them 60/40 lager/GB in a glass. Has anyone done a lager/GB kit mix in the one fermenter. I am...

    Hello to all.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have bottled my brew and now letting it sit. Took a taste from the last SG reading and it tasted better than I expected. Hoping the 3-4 weeks in the bottle will tidy it up a bit more. Now have just put on a ginger beer. Am eagerly awaiting the day I can crack...

    Hello to all.

Thanks all. I sanitised everything well just hoping the temperature dosent hurt to much. But the temp is stable. Im in Caboolture and we are getting early 30 degrees during the day and the fermenter is stable at 28deg. Should I be getting a cooling device? Cheers.
