    Carbon/ashy taste from element

Cheers Garfield, Mark and Hopospy! I tried some bi-carb on Monday night I think, it's better. But still could get it cleaner. Think I'll give the oven cleaner a go next time @MHB cheers. I've got another bag, I'll try that next time. Cheers guys. I did a brew today, after cleaning the...

    Carbon/ashy taste from element

Hi all I brew BIAB, in an electric Nano-Brewery kettle. When I finished the mash, I raised the grain bag and sparged the grains with about 10 litres of water for my pre-boil vol of about 30 litres. Anyway the mash and boil went well. My brew has now finished fermentation. There is a kind of...

    Amount of trub in secondary

Ok, cool thanks guys. So this is more so yeast, than trub? WEAL, do you mean an average amount of trub? I’m going to pay attention to the amount of trub from my biab next Wed.

    Amount of trub in secondary

I used the yeast that came with it. That was M54 (rehydrated). After close to two days, it didn’t have any visuals that fermentation had started. So I added a coopers yeast (from the euro lager can). Which I rehydrated. So more to do with the yeast, and how well it has settled out?

    Amount of trub in secondary

Hey all, I normally brew Biab. But needed a simpler brew with one of my kids home with on school hols on my usual brew day. So I brewed a Mangrove Jacks Craft pouch series. Did their Munich Helles. After fermentation was complete, I transferred it to a second fermenter (was at around 0-2 in my...

    Belgian Bier de Garde

Hey All I'm looking to brew a Bier De Garde (Amber) in the next few weeks. I'll be using my Wyeasy 3522 (that' be it's third use), and some French Aramis hops from Brewman - they smell/taste delicious, as I just used them in my Belgian Golden Ale (which I've just had a few of). So I want to...

    Bier De Garde (Amber)

Hey Steve, Thanks for that. So do you think this fits in the Amber category based in brewbuilder? Or is the total colour too dark for the style I’m after? I did find even that Dingemans pils have quite a bit of colour to my pale ale. Cheers

Do you have a beard? (poll)

I don’t have a beard. It does seem “standard issue”. I also work as a coffee buyer and roaster, roasting coffee in the specialty coffee part of the coffee industry, it is very in usually for roasters, brokers and baristas. But unfortunately, I don’t have one [emoji12]

    KegKing Mkii temp control/calibration

Alright. Thanks Tim. Yes I have another thermometer, the one in the second link. Think I can just hold that probe in at mash temp.

    KegKing Mkii temp control/calibration

Hey A little while I posted here https://aussiehomebrewer.com/threads/vienna-lager-better-efficiency.96831/ . Some of the things raised where me needing to check the calibration of my hydro (done that) and my temp controller. It was suggested I should check the KegKing temp controller at 0...

Style Of The Week 30/4/08 - Vienna Lager

I like the colour of the top one Bribie. My last Vienna lager was similar to the vibe Jack mention. It was about 59% Vienna, 32% Munich I, 4% Melanoidin, 2.5% CaraAroma. A little darker than I was hoping for. But still tasted good. I think next time, I’ll do something similar to 75% Vienna, 21%...

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

I received Bridge Road’s Advent beer case from a supplier of mine. Don’t normally drink many IPA’s. But this Imperial and their standard strength IPA, were very well made.
