    Bottle bomb stories anyone?

Must have been the weather last week.. couple of low 30s in a row really shakes out the bottle bombs! I made a batch about this time last year, some dry lager clone, not that great. I can't imagine i bottled too early as i'm consistently slack about these things, more likely it's a gusher...

    Cleaning Bottles?

    Cleaning Bottles?

I too have found that bottle brushes aren't necessary. Rinse after emptying, stack, rack, box, whatever until needed again. Fill laundry trough with hot water and a couple of shakes napisan, soak for half, remove, shake, drain on the rack for another half then refill. Couldn't be lazier, 50...

    Hoegaarden Advice Please

Made a rather good Ho clone last summer, should get serious about doing one again this year. The orange zest & coriander seeds I believe I simmered for 5 minutes and added to the liquid to the primary as fermentation was reaching completion. The advice I was given last year which I will pass on...

    Brew Craft

Must be time for another Brewcraft bashing thread.. Sorry guys, it's buyer be-informed (not quite beware, but.. kind of on the same track) BC do K&K, and they do it well. You want malt, or variety then there are other places that do it better, much better. My local BC store are as friendly as...

    Funniest Beer Name?

I recall some blog had a webcam on their stout for the primary fermentation. They called it the Judy Garland Stout 'cos it grew up in front of everybody and turned out very bitter'

    Funniest Beer Name?

Made a broken toe lager some years back. The other half managed to drop a 1.7Kg tin of goop from bench height onto her little toe with predictable results.

    Kevin Rudds Home Brewing Bonus

I should introduce you to the lovely lass up the road from me. She's about 30 years old, never worked a day in her short life. No front teeth, intellect of a gumboot, moderate understanding of spoken english (her first language). Fills her day with about 50 fags and a bottle of cheap liquor...

    The Nine Dollar Pint

Beer price to match their food price. Anybody else here agree with me that a lot of pubs way overcharge for food? Most pubs around inner Melb you'll pay $25 a plate for dinner, and for that you might get steak & chips, a parma, drop another $5 they'll grill up the cheapest fish at your local...

The Golden Can Opener, Competition Discussion

I don't know about the current state of competitions, but at least one AHB award recipe book I have does list best kit as a category. Perhaps the defining difference would be whether the brewer has mashed grain, or whether they have used all pre-converted ingredients like crystal malts and...
