Just bumping this as a reminder that our next meeting is coming up on Wednesday. Upstairs @ New Syd, 7:45 for 8pm. I'll be bringing some of my rye IPA for tasting.
We'll also ready to sign up members, we have some Enigma hops available to buy and we've got Chris from Lark coming to talk brewing...
I picked up some new Enigma hops from HPA today which will be available at the meeting at well. We'll probably divide them into 250g and 500g lots which will be $6.20 and $12.40 respectively. We might break it down into smaller lots if there's too much demand.
Hi Clevo, it'd be great to have you along. Next meeting is next Wednesday, 21 May, 7:45 for 8pm, upstairs @ New Sydney. PM me your email address if you want to get on the mailing list.
Yeah, I think 2 x 375 or 1 x 750ml is the standard thing. It's a good idea to go with those Coopers PET bottles, especially if you place 1-3 and need to post a bottle for the nationals.
Just bumping this to give it a bit more visibility.
We'd really like to encourage guys who aren't part of the Hobart or Launceston clubs and especially those in the North West of the state to join in with the state comp. The more the merrier!
Hey guys, just a quick announcement so you can get started working on your brews for the state brewing competition.
We'll be running a limited number of categories this first time while we're finding our feet and judges. We'll be getting one or two experienced judges down from Melbourne as...
I'm brewing a small sour beer today. I'll probably end up dry hopping at least part of it with Galaxy, fruity dry hop character is incredible paired with a bright acidity. It's getting some WLP530 and slurry from a previous sour as well as the dregs from a bottle of this and that.
Fine Detail...
In Seattle - Fremont Brewing are amazing going there would be my number 1 priority, Schooner Exact and Big Al Brewing were also great. Elysian and Georgetown Brewing are bigger but also very good.
In Portland - The Commons and Upright Brewing would be the first places I'd go. Hair of the Dog...
I know what you mean but I think it'll be a better as a competition if there's a good number of entries in a smaller range of categories. Hopefully we won't have to limit things too much. The issue is more about number of judges than anything and that will get better over the coming years as the...
Yep, we're on the case. There are a couple of details we're working out and then we'll sort out categories. We'll be keeping everyone in the loop and it should be all set soon.
Haha, maybe we should make it Qld-Tas instead of North-South. :D
It'll be AABC sanctioned so no need to go through ACT this time and there'll definitely be more posts on here closer to the date as well as email, twitter and the rest. As Bill mentioned, the date is September 26-27 so there's...
Haha! There are no limits to Tasmanian parochialism. I can understand why you wouldn't want to be included with Launceston though. ;)
We've all benefitted from your contributions and as Bill said, the comp would be all the poorer if you, LRG, IanH and the other North West guys couldn't join in.
Absolutely mate, that's why we're talking North-South not Hobart-Launceston. That's just an extra part added onto the normal state comp for a bit of friendly rivalry. It'll be open to any homebrewer living in the state regardless of whether they're in a club or not and on the entry they'll be...
Hey guys, I just wanted to post a bit of a reminder about the next meeting and show off the new section for Hobart Brewers specific threads. I recommend subscribing to the subforum to make sure you don't miss out on any of the good stuff.
The next meeting is on April 16, 7:45 for 8pm start...
