    Grain and Grape Closing Down

Who said anything about re-opening? I don’t think they’re re-opening mate. Maybe you could chase them up for a refund or you could order whatever grain you need more before it’s too late.

Yeah 100%. They were frequent winners of home brew store of the year. Surely there’s a valuable business there.

Beer excise tax killing off Aussie craft breweries

I definitely think it’s organised. Surely scrapping stainless steel isn’t that valuable?

Wowzers $390 for the PID?!? Has it got some special features that other PIDs don’t have?

Beer excise tax killing off Aussie craft breweries

This is ridiculous. I’m an electrician but far from an energy worker (and not unionised either). The issue here is state governments have privatised the power network. Shock horror!! How dare a company try to make money!! If power was free I’d say there would still be breweries going into...

Agreed, it’s not cheap, Depending on your requirements you’d probably grab the pressure lid and the PID controller for peace of mind repeatable brewing? It comes with a pump already… With those 2 options you’re up around $1850. 10% for Black Friday and you’re at $1670.

Converting from gas to electric kettle

1.5mm cable on a 16A breaker is pretty dodgy haha I’m a licensed sparky but far from an engineer :) You can’t change the resistance of a load (or the cables that you’re using for that matter) which means if you’re using a 3000w element at 230V, you’re drawing 13A. Voltage definitely drops under...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

In Australian and NZ, we work off the same standard, the AS/NZ:3000. A 10A circuit is usually used for lighting. So it’d be rare to find a 10A outlet protected by a 10A CB. Power circuits: old practice was to put these on an 16A CB but is more common on a 20A now. Common circuit breaker...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

What? You can put a 4800w element on a 20A circuit. A 5500w element is safe on a 25A circuit.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Hey kegland, Is this item still likely to go ahead? Every time the date expires it gets pushed back a few months. Thanks

Yeah this caught my eye as well. There’s a product in the states called brewha that is similar but apart from that I couldn’t find heaps. Haven’t seen much discussion about it though. The price ($1500) seems odd cos individually the fermenter is $570, controller $520, 50L basket $165, element...
