Fermenting freezer died! Astronomical wort temp!

Thanks Lads! I seriously have no idea what happened. All I did after discovering the catastrophe, was check that the temp controller was set correctly (it was), then left the lid open to cool it all down a bit, shut the lid and now it's sitting at 2.8 degrees, where it should be. I didn't need...

Fermenting freezer died! Astronomical wort temp!

Gday all. As my title suggests, two days ago I set my temp controller to cold crash my brew and I went out there just now to transfer and it seems my freezer died or something happened, not sure yet but the temp in there was 69 degrees Celsius!! Lamp must have stayed on, I don’t know. Anyway, my...

But, my no chill cube that I have used has the smell of hops in it that I just cant get out! I have cleaned with PBW 3 times, sanitised...

    Grain Bill Question

Thanks mongey. Really appreciate any tips on this and that certainly helps. I'm looking for my first brew to be a IPA style or just a simple pale ale with a nice bit of hopping. I pretty much understand the hop side of things...sort of. So it's the grains I need to learn more about, but if you...

    Grain Bill Question

Thanks mate. Will take that all on board. Might do a little grain research to find out exactly what they do instead of blindly following a recipe. I haven't been this excited about brewing since I first started. Bring it on!!

    Grain Bill Question

Thanks MHB. So maybe go for a SMASH type brew where things are pretty simple and just get used to the method and then I guess shoot a little higher. Looking at some of the grain bills in some recipes, I'm thinking shit, how many types of grain do you need on hand to make these different recipes!

    Grain Bill Question

I posted something earlier which I thought I had worked out but alas..No. After 20 K&K brews I'm looking at doing my first AG (well BIAB) in a couple of weeks and I have a question, If I see a recipe and it is for a 45L batch, how do I recalculate that for a 20-23L batch. Sorry if this is a...

    Digiboil for Partial Mash?

Gday Half-baked. I started to have a bit more of an in depth look at BIAB today and it seems like a much better idea! I will do a bit more research and go down that path me thinks. Cheers

    Digiboil for Partial Mash?

Gday All. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with using the Digiboil from Kegland as a vessel for partial mash. I'm looking at stepping up to AG eventually but would like to try partial mash first. Cheers

First Brew - New temp controller failed - what to do

Just a thought, What temp is the fridge at when you plug it into the temp controller? If the temp controller is set to the same as the fridge temp picked up by the probe, then nothing will turn on because the temperature is the same. Although I am not familiar with this controller. Cheers
