    FVM in a GF?

I'm looking at doing some smaller batches 12-13 litres (two crates of bottles) and I've been wondering about full volume mashing using my pre-Bluetooth GF. I brewed with a recirculating BIAB for a couple of years before my boiler finally gave out and I bought the GF so I'm happy with biab. I...

    Got a G40? A few questions?

Thanks dib, I was looking at a YouTube video (the font of all truth) that seemed to show all the grain circulating in the water. I was not asking about the grain plate, the grain bed is a stationary layer of grain that would lay on top of the grain plate and filter the wort.

    Got a G40? A few questions?

Thanks dib, but it doesn't really answer my question. Does the flow from the recirculation tube get all the grain into suspension in the water? But if does cover sparging :)

    Got a G40? A few questions?

Anybody got a G40? A few questions? I was looking at a video and it seemed that the flow from the pump kept the entire grain bill suspended in the water and in constant motion. Is this correct? Is there no grain bed to filter the wort? Does it produce clear wort? Not that it's an...

    A pot with no holes?

Hangover68 Easily but the hole is what I want to avoid. The more I think about it the less likely it seems that it will work :( :( so I'll be doing as you suggested, I'll need to find my Q Cutter. Atb. Aamcle

    A pot with no holes?

I'm considering setting up a small full volume BIAB system using a 25litre Stock Pot with recirculation I'm comfortable with BIAB as I had a bigger BIAB some years ago. I'd really really like to avoid cutting holes in the pot, I can do it I have the cutters, but I don't want to and I'll use a...

Small batch Full Volume on a GF?

I want to do some 1/2 size batches and I wonder about using my GrainFather with a full volume mash. I do have the small batch pipes, if I were to try this would I need to raise the malt pipe such that the central overflow pipe was just above the surface of the water? That is to get the overflow...

Smaller Batch Brewing - CraftBeer Pi

Smaller Batch Brewing Increasingly I get the urge to brew small batches of 10-15 litres just to increase the variety of beers I have available. However time and effort bite into my little plan, whatever I do has to a large extent be "set and forget" which is were CbPi comes in. I have a spare...

    FVM build maybe...

Flyp. You could add a grandfather type overflow, if I ever get this built that's what I will do. Atb. Aamcle

    FVM build maybe...

Full Volume Mashing, the usual example is pure BIAB. It's easier to automate than BIAB or a GrainFather (or GF clone) because mashing does not take place in the vessel used as a boiler. Automating removing the malt pipe or biab bag from the boiler and moving it out of the way would be very...

    FVM build maybe...

I'm considering another build, I'm using a GF now but previously had a recirculating BIAB system until it leaked once too often. What I'm interested in is a full volume system were the mash is not in the boiler (like a BrewEasy or Counter top Brutus 20) as this would enable me to automate the...

    Pinch Valves for silicon tube.

I tempted to do another brewery build but to keep everything sanitary I'd prefer to pipe up with silicon tube and nice clean pinch valves rather than ball valves on 10-15mm id silicon tube. The valves would be controlled via Craft Beer Pi. Has anybody done this? Were did you get the valves...
