New 19L cornies: KK vs Mangrove Jack's ?

I have found with the chinese kegs that its the posts themselves that cause me issues with disconnects etc... i have now replaced all disconnects with CMB, and have AEB posts on all my kegs, very happy with the setup.

    Gippy Brewers

Howdy, I am in Wonthaggi and would definately be interested if anything gets organised in south gippy. My brewery, Tipsy Squirrel, is a 20l per batch BIAB, all grain brewing. I ferment using 26l kegmenters and keg into cornies, which find their way into my 3 tap keezer. Just harvested my hop...

    Ebay, Gumtree and FB Marketplace

While checking out the sabco, one of the suggested items looks very interesting... https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Self-Chilling-Heating-60L-34L-Stainless-Steel-Conical-Fermenter-Nano-Brewery-/162873623872?var=&hash=item25ec064540 Stainless conical with included chiller/temp control, great idea if...

    Help with recurring infection...

Sorry to hear that mate, but on the other hand happy that this thread, and my 5 dumped batches (not a total waste, my hop plants have loved it!) have helped someone :)

    Help with recurring infection...

No I certainly wasn't relying on cleaning from 2 weeks ago... hehe. I cleaned and sanitised the silicon hose immediately after the previous brew. Once I discovered it was infected, I had a look at the silicon hose and noticed it was well colonised by nasties. So I do believe now that boiling...

    Help with recurring infection...

Thanks to everyone's advice, I have solved the issue. Now certain it was the silicon hose. Last brew day I drained the wort straight into my kegmenter, no chill. The silicon hose i used was boiled in Starsan for 5 mins prior to use. Chilled overnight, then into the fermentation fridge to get...

    DIY Kegmenter

My vote is for 58L with corny keg fittings. Can still get in there to clean and aligns with all my other kegs. I am planning a sour solera and this size keg with corny fittings would be perfect for long aging with minimum 02 ingress.

Mangrove Jack's M29 French Saison yeast

I used it for my lilli pilli Saison, fermented at 21c. One week primary then added the lilli pilli fruit and left it for another two weeks. Racked to keg with natural carbonation, sat in the keg for another 4 weeks or so before going into the keezer. Was somewhat over carbed, so the yeasties...

    Help with recurring infection...

Thanks thumbs, I think I will follow a similar regime in the future for any tubing. I think the sterilisation step (ie: boiling) is needed for the silicon tubing, given what I have observed. Cheers, Nathan.

    Help with recurring infection...

That's a good suggestion. I may actually ditch the cube all together too... I can drain straight from the urn into the fermenter (keg), let it cool down overnight and oxy/pitch the next day. Cheers, Nathan.

    Help with recurring infection...

So got back from my work trip yesterday and sampled the Hobgoblin... Same infection. Was slightly reduced from last time. But still needs to be dumped. I checked out the silicon hose that I use to siphon from No-Chill Cube to Fermenter, and it looks like a petri dish... This tube was...

    Help with recurring infection...

Thankyou everyone some great advice to consider. I want to nail the cause, so boiling the air stone is the next change. Have brewed the Hobgoblin so will put in the fermenter tomorrow (Sunday). During cleanup today I have boiled the air stone in starsan for 10 minutes for an initial clean...
