    BrewKeg 50

http://www.williamswarn.com/Shop/BrewKeg50#.V0vIamPKnww I see a few drawbacks - the main one being the need to mount in a fridge with some form of lifting device. But a 50L pressurised SS conical for ~ AUD1.1K - looks promising. RM

    Aristotle Pale Pils

Taxdodgers Made a Pilsener - first beer back after 5 months in Condamine - Meh - I think because the hops in my frudge are getting old it was - you know - meh - not good - not bad - just not worth writing about - also finished at 1.006 so was overly dry Had half a keg left of an NZPA I made...

    D Saaz

My favourite hop by a street. Isn't Trademe a great thing - landed on my doorstep this afternoon. There will be a SMASH D Saaz pils in due course. I know Saaz is a 'subtle' hop but does anyone see an issue with an 80 iBU SMASH of D Saaz? OG 1.060?? Cheers RM

    Accidental Icebeer

Howdy Taxdodgers As is usually the case - I got busy doing other stuff and delayed the kegging of an American Pilsener (Completely Rebored American Pilsener) chilled down for a week or so. 46 L batch in 2 fermenters - one of which was pushed further back in the Fridge. Almost but not quite...

Beer Line - Anyone Seen This Before?

My neighbor who is getting into kegging showed me his setup the other day - the first thing I noticed was a different type of beer line - used both for gas and beer. Definitely 6mm ID - fits on a barb nicely. The internal pipe looks polished - the picture doesnt show it well but there is a...

    Rims - Direct Heat

Im considering a direct heat (from 2 ring burner) for maintaining and stepping purposes. So rather than a heater - external heat (gently of course. Does anyone else do this? Pro's and Cons. Also what grain:water ratio are people who RIMS using? 3:1 for my setup is a bit thick. Cheers RM

    Is This A Good Idea?

I have a Smurtos TTL Mk III clone in primary at the moment - with 1968. Its at 1.019 I also have a keg of Smurtos TTL Mk I in a keg with around 1 pint to go. (1469) I also have a pressure relief (spunding valve) I am tempted just to rack the TTL MkIII directly into the empty Mk I keg - where...

    Cfwc Cleaning Help

Flame suit on - a search would likely find the answer - but what is the best way to chemically clean the inside of a CFWC that has been sitting outside for a month or so. Vinegar? Citric acid? I will circulate hot starsan after I clean it - but what is the best 'immersion' method - I basically...

    March Pump Flow Rates

Since I am not a real brewer - because I dont own a March Pump  - would one of you real brewers out there enlighten me with what flow rates you expect and get from your March Pumps. I.e. during Recirculation? Filling Mash Tun? Draining Mash Tun to Kettle? The reason I ask is that I...

    Imperial Pilsener

Can find little information on this style - if indeed it is a style. I see Dogfish head make one called 'Golden Shower' - dont want that recipe. So has anyone made one? I sort of started with a experiment in Beersmith - this is what I came up with. Comments welcomed RM Imperial Pilsener...

    This Could Do It

Howdy Taxdodgers According to my brewlog - 19/6 was my last brew day. I have kind of lost my brewing mojo - spending the last 5 month on a project away from home certainly has drained my enthusiasm. Hasnt stopped me collecting stuff for brewing though - and when 2 of these puppies arrived in...

    Kegging - Vacuum

I have steadily become more and more obsessive with reductive beer making - especially my kegging techniques. Mainly this is purging / flushing keg/hoses/filter/pump with CO2 before I keg. I think it definitely increases the freshness and longevity of the beer. This has me thinking. If all we...

    S-189 - Stop!

Missed my OG due to fiddling with my gap setting. OG was 1.058 instead of 1.050. Chucked a packet of S-189 and chilled to 10 degrees. This was on the 19/6. Its still going - down to 1.009 - I upped the temp to 14 (turned the fridge off) and its still making CO2 - Beersmith says its 6.4% ABV...
