    Brewing Temps

Thanks Guys. The OG reading was 1038 which is what is recommended. With regards to the fluctuating temps, it has probably got as high as 21 and as low as 17. I think I will take a reading every day and hope for it to get down to around 1016. Thanks for the advice.

    Brewing Temps

I have a Brewcraft 'Little Creatures Rogers' brew on atm and I started the brew a week ago. It bubbled for a couple of days but then stopped. The temp has been around 19deg but has fluctuated as I don't have a heating pad yet. I have been moving the brew from a warm room during the day to a...

    Excellent. Thanks mate.

    Black Rock Malt Extract Light

It is a 1.5kg can of pale ale and a 1.5kg can of malt extract. I don't want a rocket fuel and I also don't want to compromise the taste of the brew with the dextrose, but I don't want a 2% beer either. It also comes with hops which I boil up.

    Black Rock Malt Extract Light

I am brewing a recipe pack from Brewcraft (Fat Yak) and the pack contains a can of Malt extract instead of dry malt. The can says that it is 'light'. Does this refer to light alcohol volume, and if so, can I add some dextrose to bring it up to a 5% full strength beer.

    Carbonation Drops

I have a Stout brewing in the fermenter and it is time to bottle it into my PET bottles which hold about 720mls. Now because I use 500ml glasses, I was wanting to only fill the bottles 3/4 so I can pour a beer straight and not have any left over. My question is, if I still put in 2 carbonation...

    Cleaning Pet Bottles

I didn't ignore any of the posts. After reading the posts I agree with you - no need to put them in the dishwasher.

    Cleaning Pet Bottles

I am about to use my batch of PET bottles for the second time. I religiously wash them out after I pour each bottle of brew but I thought a once-over in the dishwasher would help before I sanitze them? Would appreciate hearing if anyone else does this or any advice on the best way to clean...

    Pitching Yeast

cheers mate. I will see how it goes. I live in Perth and brewing isn't really a summer sport. They reckon this brew is a Hoegaarden recipe so if I can get close to that I will be stoked. Cheers for the advice.

    Pitching Yeast

Thanks for the advice. It is currently at 28 degrees so if it hasn't come down to 24 by bedtime, I think I will put it in the laundry trough with some ice.

    Pitching Yeast

I have just prepared a Blackrock Whispering Wheat brew but when it came time to pitch the yeast the temp was about 30 deg. I tried to cool it down by putting the kit in cold water but I couldn't get it down. I remember reading somewhere that it is better to pitch the yeast in this situation...
